About this artwork
A new day banishes the dark of the uncertain night and awakens the spirit, awestruck in its radiance.
The artist thrusts the viewer's gaze directly into the giant, flaming orb of the glowing sun, throbbing with intensity.
The midnight-blue monolithic totem rises on the landscape demanding attention and devotion.

« The mundane and the meaningful are both acts of worship. To capture them together on canvas is my life-long pursuit. »
Stu Duval is an artist based in New Zealand whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. He describes his artistic practice as an interweaving of the spiritual and the landscape, wherein these elements speak to each other and to the viewer in ways that are mysterious and personal, but ultimately cathartic. Duval most often creates with acrylics, oil pastels, and ink on canvas.
