About this artwork
I uses the symbolism of a Korean traditional wedding to convey a message about love, connection, and harmony across diverse backgrounds. On the korean traditional wedding, the bride puts three red dots on face. We call them yeonji gonji. These dots symbolize happiness, protection, and the blessings of ancestors. They serve as a prayer for prosperity in the couple’s married life.
In a distant time, there was a legend that three stars in the sky would… come together to bless a bride with everlasting love. The three women, representing different cultural backgrounds are all brides adorned in the regal Hwarot, the traditional Korean royal wedding attire. It symbolize the blessings of the stars and their readiness to embrace love with courage and open hearts.
It is a wish for everyone to find their destined love. As the three brides stand under the blessings of the stars, they remind us that happiness, like yeonji gonji, is a wish we can share with the world.

Su Hyun Kim is a South Korean painter who has exhibited nationally, as well as in China and the United States. She became an artist in order to help the world by ‘revealing mystic truths’. Kim’s paintings combine photography and illusion in unique ways, oscillating between abstraction and realism. Her compositions are witness to personal stories, portraying individuals as universal archetypes that are simultaneously simple and complex, as we all are. She creates using oils and watercolors on canvas.
