About this artwork
Jaywalking captures a small, shared moment of mischief on Main Street in Highlands, North Carolina. Two friends, one in a striped top and one in yellow, walk across the street against the signal, bags from local shops swinging at their sides. The Old Edwards Inn fills the background, with tiers of white railings and gray shutters that turn the façade into a pattern of line and color.
My work turns familiar places into vivid, flattened worlds. Here,… a cobalt roadway meets a chartreuse crosswalk, and violet windows echo the lavender sidewalk. Traffic signals, road signs, and the red hands of the crossing lights become part of the design. The painting is at once a portrait of friendship, a study in architecture, and a wink at bending the rules.

« I re-create images from life driving my car, walking the streets, strolling in the park and simple objects, using bold color and striking compositions, my rules, no boundaries. »
