About this artwork
The painting "time for coffee" was born from a moment of calm and anticipation, inspired by the first coffee of the morning. This opens my day, and I consciously take a moment for myself.
The round canvas resembles a clock. A golden circle glows in its center, like a heart, from which a golden ray emerges. This marks the beginning of my day, roughly between seven and eight in the morning. The painting is an invitation to each and every one of us… to choose our own personal time. The warm yellow and gold palette, combined with richly textured surfaces and dark inclusions, reflects both energy and grounding. This work tells of a ritual that bestows strength, awakens joy in life, and creates a connection to one's own center. It is a painting that shines... like a ray of sunshine in everyday life.
Susan Metzendorf, a Hamburg-based painter, works with acrylic paints, pigments, inks, and textures. Her works emerge from a color mood and are an interplay of color gradients, geometric forms, and emotional depth. Influenced by her work as a mathematics educator, she translates experiences, thoughts, and feelings into pictorial compositions of circles, squares, or rectangles in specific numerical ratios, which are interrelated in a variety of ways. Her abstract paintings invite you to take an inner journey and aim to give the viewer hope, joy and motivation.
