About this artwork

For many years I felt this longing to paint on porcelain or ceramics. I found my place in Portugal – where else?
During my art residency in Porto in the winter of 2026, I was greeted by tiles on almost every house wall. Fortunately, a collaboration with the tile studio Gazete Azulejos came about during those five weeks, where I was able to create 22 tiles.
What new things grow from traditions? What stories do the sand creatures in the glaze tell?… These were questions that guided me during the painting process. As so often before, I painted from within the morphic field.
Thus, abstract and figurative forms appear – and: goddesses.
ATTENTION: The tile is of course made of ceramic, however this option wasn't available here yet, so I selected "slate". It's also painted with glaze colors, hence: "sand and pigments".
