About this artwork
In my work Light & Shadow, I depict the face of a young woman—calm, serious, almost introspective. Her gaze is direct, but not demanding—more like a quiet observation.
I painted the picture with acrylic paints in intense red and orange tones. The colors are deliberately used expressionistically rather than naturalistically: They reflect not an external reality, but rather an inner field of tension between light and shadow, between openness and… withdrawal.
I'm interested in the ambivalence in this image—the simultaneity of strength and vulnerability, of warmth and distance. The woman remains somewhat unfathomable, just as the play of light and shadow is never fully graspable.
