About this artwork
The colossal volume and force, the pyroclastic lava flow underwater which travelled at speeds of over 120 miles per hour with the Hunga Tonga explosion is my subject here. I can not imagine how this impacted on the micro worlds of coral and fishes underwater and environment under the sea, I have tried to commit the intensity and significance of this moment to paper, thinking about the aftermath at the surface.
In this piece, I used layers of acrylic,… collage, watercolor and pencil to create a beguilling effect.

Susie Wright is a London born artist and curator who lives and works in Germany. With environment at the heart of her practice, she uses a range of experimental processes to create her own personal iconography.
