About this artwork
De The Transition is a powerful, vital self-portrait about the journey from fertility to a new balance. The reclining woman is built up from vivid, layered planes – each layer representing change: body, emotion, and identity reshaping themselves. The spiral forms within the body suggest inner worlds and movement; nothing stands still, not even when the cycle comes to an end. Behind her blooms a wall of sunflowers: twelve in total (two are looking… to the sun) one for each month, a complete yearly cycle. Sunflowers turn toward the light; here they symbolize joy, resilience, and self-love – continuing to grow even when circumstances are challenging. Among the yellow and orange appear purple grape clusters: symbols of fertility, vitality, and health carried into the next stage of life. Other flowers reinforce this story of growth: new leaves, new buds, new perspectives.
Scattered throughout the field are crosses. They refer to loss and sacrifice – people and moments left behind us,..
Suzanne Domenech, inheriting artistic zeal from her fresco-painting father, explores acrylics and mixed media with a flair for the imaginative. Her technique—an alchemy of spontaneity and emotional symbology, veils narratives within her canvases. Her art pulsates with a raw, unfettered expression of both personal and commissioned emotional landscapes.
