About this artwork
This work comes from a place of personal reflection. The palette muted, sun-faded, and softly washed, carries me back to early childhood memories. There is a particular warmth in those impressions: light, air, and a landscape where color feels gently bleached by the sun.
I am not painting a specific place. Instead, I follow the feeling of it fragments, traces, something half-remembered and never fully defined. The marks remain loose and minimal,… like a sketch that holds onto atmosphere rather than form.
This painting is about warmth that stays within, about memory that softens over time but does not disappear. It exists somewhere between presence and fading, quiet, restrained, and deeply personal.
The painting is coated with a satin varnish for protection.

My path into art was not traditional. I came to painting after a successful career in biology, where I earned a Ph.D. in veterinary virology and microbiology. This background continues to shape my approach — through structure, layering and attention to detail.
My work focuses on layered abstraction, where color, texture and gesture create depth and movement. Rather than depicting specific subjects, I build compositions that evolve through accumulation and subtle shifts.
I was born in Central Asia and now live in Norway. This contrast informs my palette: warmth and density balanced with calm, light and space. My paintings often combine these qualities, creating works that feel both grounded and atmospheric.
My paintings are designed to function within interiors, bringing structure, color balance and quiet movement.
Painting, for me, is a way to sustain a state of attention rather than to describe.
