About this artwork
“Hovering Soul” belongs to the series ANIMA – artworks in which animals are not painted as motifs, but as quiet, self-contained spirits. In this series, the focus lies on presence rather than realism, on the small emotional truths that appear in a gaze, a posture, a moment of stillness.
Painted entirely by hand in my signature digital watercolor technique, this piece was created layer by layer on a large digital canvas, using custom watercolor brushes… to achieve soft transparency, luminous color and a natural watercolor flow.
Here, the hummingbird becomes a floating essence – light, fragile and impossible to pin down. Its body seems weightless, held only by color and motion, capturing a brief moment of suspension before it disappears again. It is a portrait of delicacy and quiet vitality.
This limited edition (60 × 80 cm) is printed on Canson Arches Aquarelle Rag 310 gsm, a museum-quality watercolor paper preserving every subtle detail.
