About this artwork
This piece, which incorporates old poster paper, reflects the absence of audiovisual technology. Now, the dotted portion of the paper takes on a new meaning as the primary visual element. Past experiences are juxtaposed with the red and black prints and the technological aspects of a small electronic alarm, creating a dialogue between their diverse production processes. The tiny holes allow light to filter in from the interior, contrasting with the… superimposition of our more opaque present moments.
Tess Hill is a multidisciplinary artist with a Fine Arts background, teaching experience, and a lifelong passion for collecting images, experiences, and objects. Her technique ranges from veiled abstraction to calligraphy, deconstructing recycled objects and reworking them into circular and experimental compositions, where the method itself becomes writing. Her work conveys an intense emotional connection to the environment, seeking to generate vital awareness and engage sensitively with the languages of the social, ecological, and personal.
