About this artwork
I am a portrait painter and paint commissioned portraits, but often I see people who capture my imagination and I just have to paint them. This was true of this chap. He had his own 'essence' which I appreciated. I painted him with palette knives to make the painting more spontaneous and alive . It is framed with hard wood we brought back from Cameroon, Africa. We saw men cutting the wood with chainsaws and fell in love with the marks the chainsaws…
left in the wood. Bespoke frames were made from this wood, and painted black, with a touch of genuine gold leaf. They are totally unique and one of a kind. There are only 4 frames like this. So this comes as an added bonus with this painting.
