About this artwork
This is a new series of classic photo montage based on the very last photo ever taken of Marilyn Monroe sleeping drunk after drinking two bottles of Don Perignon Champagne lying on a madrasa on the floor in the bungalow at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.
It's known as "The Last Sitting," and it took place over three days in late June 1962. But this historical “ one only shot” was taken secretly by the photographer Bert Stern's assistant at… the time Swedish photographer Leif -Erik Nygårds who was a close friend of mine. We met at my Marilyn Exhibit in Stockholm and Leif said then that my fake Marilyn was really looking like the real Marilyn he had photographed. He gave me a few copies of his Monroe that I have used in my new montages, to tell a new story by adding smaller items that reflect on her life and death. She is in this photo a Sleeping beauty. These new works will be exclusively printed in only 3 prints each , on high quality Hahnemuhle paper signed and numbered
