About this artwork
A celebration of African Culture.
Visiting Africa as a young boy made an inpakt on me like it did on some of my artistic Heroes like Picasso and Hemingway. When I was a grown up artist I met the great Photographer and artist Peter Beard who lived and worked his whole life in Africa and he was large and generous to me . This series of art works are a tribute to him and my friend Jean Michel Basquiat and at the same time an homage, to one of the… strongest women in the 20th century Leni Riefenstahl who was also a dancer, actress, filmmaker, mountaineer and scuba-diver. I have borrowed some of her photos of the Maasai people and warriors from the Nuba tribe. T Dellert.
