The New Man 2022
This is a self portrait of me as my Drag alter ego “ Dominique Tragique “
Inspired by my mentor Andy Warhol's drag photos
and also of David Bowie’s Glam Drag alter ego Ziggy Stardust .
I met and knew both of these avant-garde artists using themselves as artistic canvases to promote sexual diversity long before the rest of the world did. I met Andy in 1976 and did some hand printed silk screens for him in 1980. I met David two… times and are today as a performer singing some of his songs. I was a part of the very first Drag show in Stockholm Sweden in 1973.These portraits were done in 2008 in Paris as a part of the art project “Self Portraits of Others” My art photography is a part of the “They Them “ movement.
