About this artwork
When the war in Ukraine started I really just didn't know what to do; I felt so hopeless seeing all those innocent people being forced to flee their homes to face an impossible, unknow future. I too to the thing that I know best which is making pictures. Here are lines of abstract figures; the people who are fleeing, they are surrounded by strangers and empty spaces which represent the unknown. I don't normally turn smaller drawings into large…
scale paintings but these sketches are destined to become the backbone of a brand new series I will be starting i the coming months after a frustrating, forced absence from oil painting. Watch this space!
