About this artwork
The image, created at an old, disused factory in East Berlin, tells a story of urban rebellion, artistic expression, and spatial tension. It speaks of transformation—how spaces change, how people assert themselves within them. History and the present, nature and culture, order and chaos collide. Large, bold, and painted in contrasting colors, "OFF" is a deliberately placed signal. It stands for rejection—against conventions, against systems, against…
expectations. But perhaps it is also a call to switch off, to step outside the familiar. The graffiti points narratively to a place where people express themselves, become visible, without official permission—raw, direct, honest. It speaks of frustration, but also of hope—because where people express themselves, connection is also created.
