About this artwork

The "Secrets of Fire" cycle was created at a time marked by the global pandemic. The longing for closeness and touch inspired me to create art that brings people back to physical perception. For an exhibition in Klagenfurt, I developed small wooden reliefs that were designed as "touchpads" and made fire tangible. What began as protection for my burning pictures developed into an independent cycle.

These miniature works carry the essence of my larger… works: the traces of fire and wood, as well as the layers created by heat and color. The cycle is a reminder of how important touch and physical experiences are in an increasingly virtual world.
