About this artwork
In this work I combined fire and color on linen in a mixed technique. The heat causes special color pigments to melt and create a fascinating interplay of light, color and texture. This technique, which I developed during my stay in Paris in 2008, allows me to use the raw power of fire creatively and create an impressive variety of colors.
The structures created by melting the colors give the picture depth and allow the natural effects of the fire… to become visible. The moment in which the color is transformed by the fire and thus unfolds a very unique liveliness on the canvas is particularly important to me. The work is part of my "burningpictures-fusion" series, which expresses the creative balance between destruction and creation.

Born in Austria, I discovered my passion for the art of engraving and steel engraving early on, a passion later expanded through the transformative power of fire in my Burningpictures. Using mixed media on linen, wood, and ceramics, I employ fire as a central design element. In my Burningpictures, I reveal the hidden secrets of nature and invite the viewer to experience the ever-changing interplay of light, color, and texture. The fire creates a magical visibility of the invisible—a powerful and liberating transformation.
