About this artwork
My artwork "Spring" is an abstract composition that captures the vibrant colors of autumn. Using my Burningpictures technique, I create a dynamic scene in which streaks of color seem to explode across the canvas, giving the image immense energy and movement. I apply the colors - a kaleidoscope of greens, deep reds, bright yellows and earthy browns - wildly and intuitively to reflect the natural beauty and unpredictability of autumn. I then burn the…
colors into the material with a Bunsen burner. This gives them an extraordinary luminosity and depth. This creates burn marks that look like fragments of nature and add a powerful texture. These marks symbolize the cycles of growth and decay. "Spring" invites you to immerse yourself in a world in which visible reality and emotional resonance merge.

Born in Austria, I discovered my passion for the art of engraving and steel engraving early on, a passion later expanded through the transformative power of fire in my Burningpictures. Using mixed media on linen, wood, and ceramics, I employ fire as a central design element.
