Jang Seung-eop was probably the first subversive Korean painter. Official painter of the Court in the nineteenth century, he has long made highly technical paintings with the greatest respect for the artistic tradition. Becoming an alcoholic, he began to create more passionate works that went against the social values of the time and was rejected by the artistic elite. values in Korea today. To get out of the rank is always reprehensible of social exclusion in the country of calm morning. Wonsungee means Monkey in Korean. I wanted to choose this pseudonym artist as a wink to the famous painting of this artist in rebellion. I was just coming out of Korea with the feeling of having been rejected by the roughness of the culture.
