About this artwork
Sleep In captures a cat in deep rest—folded gently into itself, half-shadow, half-light. At 80 x 80 cm, this work transforms a quiet domestic moment into a geometric meditation. Using my signature hand-painted polygonal technique, I abstracts the feline form into a mosaic of soft blues, golds, and warm reds.
This is my new cubism not as analysis, but as tenderness—where each angular plane suggests breath, warmth, and the hush of stillness. The cat… doesn’t simply sleep—it disappears into its surroundings, becoming both subject and atmosphere.
Unlike my more emotionally charged portraits, Sleep In whispers. It invites viewers to slow down and feel the calm that radiates from every fractured brushstroke. The painting offers not drama, but comfort.
As seen in my work on Singulart, my art gives shape to feeling. Sleep In is a portrait of peace—quiet, faceted, and full of presence.
Born into a Vietnamese artistic lineage, Thuy Nguyen engages with mono prints, polygonal paintings, and ceramics. Utilizing an abstract approach, she combines intense pigmentation with intricate geometric forms, traversing both the traditional canvas and the digital realm to stage her exploration. Her work, a kaleidoscopic fusion of shapes and colors, pulses with the complexities of human identity and the quest for harmony with the natural world. Through her polygonal portraits, she reveals a riveting chronicle of emotions, reflecting the enduring spirit encapsulated in our continually evolving selves.
