Here a rousing of dark cloud.
My body is this world. Waves break and arches spark.
There is rain falling in the four directions but here, in eternity, my silver beach shines.
The blessing of vision holds my sun, even as the golden serpent weaves her tides." -Tillian
In 'Jerrinja Country', I evoke the living spirit of 'Berriwerri' (Red Rock), a traditional lookout used by First Nations fishermen… to survey Jervis Bay for hundreds of years. Using sweeping, lyrical brushstrokes and vivid, elemental colour, I render land, sea, and sky as a unified, breathing entity. The rocky headland rises at the heart of a landscape alive with ancestral movement, where pathways, waters, and light intermingle. Rather than presenting a static view, I invite the viewer into an immersive relationship with Country — a place of deep time, memory, and ongoing presence.

Tillian is an award-winning artist based in Australia whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. Deeply attuned to the natural and spiritual landscapes of the highland landscapes south of Sydney, Tillian often seeks to paint what resists depiction: the numinous, the mythic, the relational pulse between body and terrain. The artist synthesises elements of abstraction, post-symbolism, and visionary ecology to build a new visual lexicon of sacred land.
