About this artwork
This is a study from a series of 3D images. The first step in my process photo realistically mimics the way light interacts with 3-dimensional objects in a virtual world. The synthesized objects and simulated light behave exactly as their counterparts do. The process is analogous to my experience as a studio photographer, arranging various objects and artificial lighting to create a photograph. The next steps involving masking, compositing, and brushwork…
-- via stylus and tablet -- call upon my experience as a painter. This process makes it possible for me to work with surreal objects, materials, and phenomena.
This is an archival pigment print on museum quality 100% cotton rag paper using a custom calibrated 12-color pigment ink printer. The pigment inks I use are designed for image fidelity and longevity. Each print is signed, numbered and packaged using acid free materials. NOTE: This extremely high-resolution image is available at most any size 40 x 60 inches and beyond.
