About this artwork
In the CAMP IT UP series, Tina Winkhaus transforms luxury automobiles into striking visual icons.
Rendered in her signature neo-pop aesthetic, the cars merge with monochrome backgrounds, recalling the bold visual language of pop art.
Removed from their functional context, these vehicles appear like sculptural objects — glamorous, damaged, and strangely silent. Once symbols of speed, freedom and status, they are reimagined as layered contemporary… relics.
Winkhaus playfully strips the automobile of its original purpose, turning it into a powerful metaphor for technology, desire and the changing mythology of modern mobility.
Tina Winkhaus, trained in rigorous analogue photography in Munich and now based in Berlin, seamlessly merges classical craft, digital collage, and her pioneering Analog-AI™ method. She painstakingly constructs large-scale, painterly photographic mosaics from thousands of her own images, blending historical influences with contemporary innovation and dramatic, chiaroscuro lighting. Her art immerses viewers in the paradoxes of beauty and vulnerability, offering seductive surfaces that reveal hidden fragility and melancholy beneath constructed ideals.
