About this artwork
More than seven years ago, I created a painting called "The Conductor". It depicted a symphony conductor, standing atop a giant wave, set against a turbulent sky. I decided to bring The Conductor back, only this time, he would be standing atop a mountain, rising above the clouds, conducting a gorgeous sunset. I used several photos for reference and then improvised my own interpretation of the setting. The result has a certain power and magnificence…
to it. There's a certain mystery as to how he got to the top of the mountain. But isn't that what we're all trying to do? In his own mind, perhaps the conductor is conducting the elements, commanding the sun to set. Whatever the case, it was a fun, but challenging one to paint - and I think it would look great on almost any wall. Especially yours! This artwork is designed to inspire resilience and awe, filling any room with a sense of boundless possibility and emotional uplift.

Tom Blood is an award-winning American artist whose paintings have been exhibited in the United States. Inspired by surrealism, especially by the works of René Magritte, many of his paintings have featured a man in a bowler hat, which is part of his on-going homage to the Belgian master. Blood enjoys painting "what seemed like it couldn't be, only it looked like it actually was".
