About this artwork
In this work Tom Gefken, as in a large number of his other works, is about remembering. How do we deal with history? What triggers us and what are our stories about yesterday? How do these thoughts look to the future? Gefken often places motif upon motif, and the resulting layers are exposed again in some of his works. So also with this work. This process of exposure can only be controlled to a limited extent. Gefken reacts to what is now coming…
to light again, giving new space to the "lost" stories and reacting to them. In this way, Gefken also opens up quite poetic spaces

The German artist Tom Gefken was born in Bremen in 1960, where he still lives today. He is a founding member of the Galerie des Westens GaDeWe in Bremen and works as a freelance artist in a variety of areas including painting, assemblage, object and installation.
Gefken's works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad.
His works can be seen in public spaces.
He is represented in private collections.
