About this artwork
Dance IV
60 × 60 × 3.5 cm
Acrylic on canvas
The fourth and final piece in the Dance series, a collection of works where dance serves as a direct channel between emotion and movement. Following the tension, release, and intensity of the previous pieces, this work finds a moment of equilibrium: the instant when the body discovers its own rhythm and energy becomes conscious.
The figure occupies the space with a more stable presence, as if the… gesture had ceased to be a reaction and become a decision. The exaggerated proportions and gestural brushstrokes maintain the series' characteristic force, but now serve a sense of control and harmony.
Here, dance becomes a personal affirmation: not as an escape, but as a way of inhabiting space with security and fulfillment.
Acrylic on canvas, with a vibrant palette and contrasts that sustain the visual rhythm of the composition.
Tom Roy (Toni Ramírez, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, 1976) is a painter of contemporary, direct and physical figurative language. She trained in business, marketing, market research, and art—an unusual combination that permeates her work. After studying at the Escola d'Art i Disseny in Tarragona, she specialized in contemporary techniques. Between 2011 and 2014, cancer led him to rethink his life and leave the commercial management of a multinational to dedicate himself completely to painting, until today. His work features monumental figures, oversized hands and feet, tense bodies, and contorted poses. He uses intense colors, decisive brushstrokes, and unconventional perspectives, currently favoring the use of almost dry oil paint. In 2025, he was selected as an Artist in Residence at World Art Dubai. He also participates in ART3F and FIABCN. His works convey energy, determination, and resilience, far removed from any naive optimism.
