About this artwork
The feeling of forced calm amidst the excess, as if the body were taking a breath while the city continues to accelerate. Large hands hold an everyday gesture that becomes symbolic, while the relaxed posture contrasts with a gaze that observes and measures. An archetypal portrait of urban youth: exposure, desire, and vulnerability coexisting without asking permission. A piece with presence, ideal for a creative office, a contemporary hall, or a living… room seeking character without becoming merely decorative. The second work in the Urban series, a project in which I explore the essence of the city through expressionist portraits of young people encountered on the street.

Tom Roy (Toni Ramírez, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, 1976) is a painter of contemporary, direct and physical figurative language. She trained in business, marketing, market research, and art—an unusual combination that permeates her work. After studying at the Escola d'Art i Disseny in Tarragona, she specialized in contemporary techniques. Between 2011 and 2014, cancer led him to rethink his life and leave the commercial management of a multinational to dedicate himself completely to painting, until today. His work features monumental figures, oversized hands and feet, tense bodies, and contorted poses. He uses intense colors, decisive brushstrokes, and unconventional perspectives, currently favoring the use of almost dry oil paint. In 2025, he was selected as an Artist in Residence at World Art Dubai. He also participates in ART3F and FIABCN. His works convey energy, determination, and resilience, far removed from any naive optimism.
