About this artwork
Every quarter inch along one edge of the drawing a sharpened colored pencil was drawn across the surface to the opposite edge, without lifting the pencil. This procedure was repeated along another edge contiguous to the first. The resulting squares were then filled in with watercolor. The image reflects the subtle changes due to the dulling (therefor thickening) of the pencil and changing size of the squares.
