About this artwork
The flowering of the Ipê trees here in Sao Paulo fill the ciment coloured city with a variety of colours. White, purple, yellow is my favourite. They mean the winter is coming to an end and springtime is approaching. A sign of hope, of re-birth, of continuity. I explore these flowers and the feelings they transmit and input within me.
The original photograph was taken in a square next to my house, it was the first Ypê I saw that year.
It is the… starting point of the whole collection.
Tomaz Favilla is an Anglo-Brazilian digital artist with roots in music and visual arts, educated at Brighton University and the Escola Pan-americana de Arte e Design. His technique involves digitally manipulating original photographs, emulating fine art painting styles while embracing intentional image error and glitch. He strongly believes that images printed on canvas deliver the best results. It gives viewers the experience of having to "look again" to check whether it is printed or every detail made by a physical brush. It is truly, unique. Visually, technically and soulfully. His works undoubtedly transmit feelings. Through his experimental process, he explores the cycles of creation and destruction to depict silent equilibrium amidst chaos. His artworks powerfully convey both the striking beauty and melancholy of transformation, offering viewers a sense of profound stillness and hope within tumultuous reality. His work has become part of his constant path to acquire inner peace.
