About this artwork
My paintings are about identity and how it forms between people and the spaces they share. I’m interested in psychological distance — how closeness and separation can exist at the same time.
My scenes are built from memory and observation, but they’re structured intentionally through color and composition. The figures aren’t telling a specific story — they’re asserting presence and suggesting inner lives beyond what we can see.

Tony J. Smith, is a long-time Graphics Arts professional and self-trained artist. He began to create full-time in 2020. His paintings explore the human and ordinary side of life. His works feel alive with color, movement and rhythm and he evokes a variety of emotions with each piece allowing the observer to feel a new sense of connection.
