About this artwork
I was inspired to create this piece by hearing simple words while walking down a sidewalk to the train station on my quest to go home from a day's work. I heard, "Can you give me a blessing?" These words surprised me and caused me to turn my direction to the source. When I turned my head, my eyes came into contact with an individual's eyes. My eyes then noticed the entire person sitting on the ground with the light of the day shining on him, mixed… with sunlight, shadows, and the light of storefront signs. He blended so well with the environment that I would not have noticed him if he hadn't spoken his simple words to me, and I think he knew that. I believe I gave him the blessing he sought after I placed a few dollars in his hand. In return he blessed me back not only with his eyes, face, and hair but also with the inspiration to do this painting. I hope you enjoy it.
