About this artwork
The figure is clearly recognizable, but not naturalistic, but full of character.
Naive and expressive – the proportions are deliberately exaggerated (long necks and striking faces), which gives her something playful and at the same time idiosyncratic.
Textured and color-intensive – the visible brushstrokes and the pasty application give the pictures a three-dimensional, almost relief-like effect.
A painting that's somewhere between Modern and… Art Brut. I like to depict portraits expressively yet with an elegant touch. I painted the picture myself on linen and mounted it on a sturdy cardboard frame. I then placed it in a wooden frame with glass. This really brings out the structure.
