About this artwork
A fictional mountain landscape, covered in the morning haze and appearing mysterious, opens up to the beholder's gaze. As in many of the artist's works, blue is the protagonist in this picture, mountains and clouds the theme. It is like a dream landscape in which the gaze can wander around and discover new things over and over again. The medium-sized picture "Hazy Mountains" arouses the viewer's interest again and again, it never gets boring to go… on the virtual path into the mountains: Is there still snow on the peaks? Are the valleys starting to turn green? And when will the morning mist clear? This work, in which the artist skillfully combines her technique of spatula painting with elements of classical painting, is a jewel for every wall!
« Water and cloud landscapes, concrete, and yet, abstract. Places of the longing. »
Ulrike Schmelter is an artist living in Berlin and on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, whose works are exhibited throughout Europe. Inspired by Romantic painting and its awareness of the uniqueness of nature, the artist intensely observes water, the sea, and nature. She visualizes her sensations in her expressive seascapes, abstract water paintings, and landscapes characterized by water—always without people. Schmelter's compositions depict the beauty of our earth and its landscapes, elevating water and the sea to the center of all existence, capturing moods and a "fascination with the moment." With her works, the artist sensitizes the viewer, reminding them of the fragility of the sea as an ecological system and water as a precious resource. Her primary media are acrylic on canvas.
