Drass Town in Drass valley, near Kargil, India, is also called “Gateway to Ladakh” and is a charming little town. Drass is known for being the second coldest inhabited place in the world, which also makes it the coldest inhabited place in India.
On our road trip from Srinagar to Kargil, we stopped for lunch at Drass, on a pleasant afternoon in July a couple of years ago.
In this painting, I have captured the quiet essence of a mountain town, blending… loose brushstrokes to convey the gentle rhythm of daily life. The cool, muted tones evoke a sense of solitude and calm, while the winding road invites viewers to wander and reflect. This piece breathes peaceful energy, perfect for adding a contemplative and serene atmosphere to any space.
