About this artwork
This picture was taken in May in the painter's own garden. The large pink flowers of the rhododendron with the light yellow stamens shine against the green of the vegetation. The intense blue of the forget-me-not shines next to two delicate, dark red columbine flowers. The oil paint is very impasto applied with brushes. This will give the picture plasticity and depth. The strong brushwork structures the leaf and flower forms. The canvas is hand-stretched…
and primed four times and has a steel wire for hanging. The edges are painted. The picture can be hung directly.
