About this artwork
This oil painting was created in my kitchen in mid-June and shows the view out the door into the garden. The rose arch is in full bloom, and my favorite chair stands nearby. The bright yellow of the evening primroses in the foreground is complemented by the clear blue of the chicory. In the front right of the painting, the orange of individual poppies radiates. Delicate violet house garlic grows in a pot. I used abstract and expressive brushstrokes.…
The colors are applied very thickly to the black canvas. The textures create interesting, three-dimensional shadows. The edges are black. The painting can be hung without a frame. A steel cable provides secure hanging. My signature is on the front.
