About this artwork
It was too cold to paint in the garden. Oil paints are smoother in warmer temperatures. That's why I painted the view from the kitchen door into the garden. My brushstrokes are expressive and dynamic. The paint is applied impasto. I wanted to show the power and energy of the plants, these fleeting moments when nature prepares for winter. The special atmosphere with the bright red rose hips, the light yellow blossoms of the winter jasmine and the…
delicate purple house garlic fascinated me when I was painting and I wanted to create the liveliness of this transitional period. The edges of the canvas are painted, a steel cable ensures secure hanging, and my signature is on the front.
