About this artwork
For many years I traveled to the Shetland Islands to paint. I always worked outside, directly in the landscape. This island offers wonderful light for painting and depending on the wind and weather I set up the easel. This picture was taken on an overcast day in July, in a sheltered spot in the rocks. The way he works with brushes and oil paint is quick, spontaneous and expressive in order to capture the mood of the moment. The light is designed…
impressionistically. The picture has a light wooden frame made of linden and a picture wire ensures good hanging. My signature is on the front.
