About this artwork
Part 1 of the trilogy “…heavenly!”
Multiple photographic layers are superimposed, each contributing its own moment of light and structure to the emerging image. The cathedral becomes the starting point for an investigation into how perception itself works: the brain layers experience upon experience, memory upon present, just as here, image upon image is superimposed. Light not only depicts the space, it becomes a formative material,… penetrating the columns, condensing within the vault, dissolving the unambiguous nature of the architecture. What emerges is not a mere image of the cathedral. It is a pictorial space between external reality and inner perception, constantly reshaped with each glance.
Fine art print on Hahnemühle Torchon paper, 60 × 80 cm, unframed.
