About this artwork
This particular painting was inspired by the pond in our garden which is abounding with guppies and mollies that help in keeping the mosquitoes away. We also have two turtles, Shy and Zoomie who strangely do not feast on the fish as we were told they would. They've been in the family longer than the fish but were quite happy to share their Pondominium (Inspired from the word condominium) with the fish who have multiplied so swiftly that we were concerned…
about over crowding. But Nature has its own way of balancing the scales and soon we had visitors from a nearby lake that normally dries up during the summer months. One kingfisher, became two and then three. One day we were surprised by a Pond heron sitting right in the middle of the fountain seemingly enjoying the water sprinkling generously over it and fearlessly diving beak, head and neck deep into the water and emerging victoriously with a beak full of guppy!
