About this artwork
We humans pray and have faith in a multitude of deities that represent various energies that exist in our Universe. Magical, benevolent, just, wise, loving, fiercely positive, protective, courageous, all-knowing and all-powerful guardians and confidants, whom humans have revered, worshipped, adored and emulated exactly the way they are. These energies have been portrayed in paintings, murals, statues etc by artists in their own individualistic styles…
and imaginations, mostly in our own image, albeit in a variety of hues and colours. I imagine that under their varied and rich outward depictions, their life-force is just as red as ours.
In this painting the divine energies of the preserver and protector, of wealth, purity and good luck, are seen donating blood to create awareness of the obvious truth that we are all the same under our skin - as red blooded as any other, no matter how different the colour on the surface of our skin.
