About this artwork
This Collage was initially a print I created from a carved block and I wanted to create a mixed media with the “face” and “head” being the background feature of the work with paper collage and some botanical collage items like ferns and yellow daisies placed around the head. These fragments are symbolic of the racing mind, ideas, and images of thoughts or memories in the head. The vivid colours are positive and bursting with life, but also indicate…
busyness and some discord. I painted some smaller areas with liquid gold leaf to draw the eye to details in the artwork and adds a tangible sheen that contrasts with the red and matte inks. Chinese Hanzi or words hint at political nations, world chaos or power struggles. The Collage eyes are looking sideways at a possible threat within a colourful visage.
