About this artwork
I developed "Approach" from a feeling that wasn't immediately tangible. It wasn't a concrete thought, but rather a movement within me—a slow advance that transferred to the canvas layer by layer. The black arc emerged almost inevitably, as if demanding its space and approaching the colored areas without fully touching them. I'm interested in this moment just before: when tension builds without being released. I often work in such liminal states,…
where nothing is complete, but everything already seems to be in place. The lighter areas resist, opening up space, while the dark intensifies. I'm not concerned with opposites, but with their relationship—with what shifts subtly and develops its own dynamic. In this process, I follow less an intention than an inner necessity.
