About this artwork
In all the works in this series, the focus was on the color or lack of color and its effect on the viewer. In the pictures in this series, the colors black and white are in the foreground, as well as all the shades of gray in between. I mixed a color into each of the shades of gray to give this shade of gray a different temperature. This work also contains tiny fragments in bright red that captivate the eye and round off the overall composition.…
Like all the pictures in this series, it was created in the style of layeing painting, whereby for me the partial destruction and breaking up of these individual layers is a central act of design. The underlying surfaces are always partially visible, giving the finished painting a depth and dimensionality that captivates the viewer.
