About this artwork
I created this series of paintings, titled "just turn around," in many layers. I used lime putty, marble dust, iron filings (which I allowed to rust on the canvas), bitumen, iron oxide, pigments, charcoal, as well as acrylic and chalk paint. Each of the four paintings (each 30x30 cm) in this series can be turned around and combined with the others in any way imaginable, whether to form a square or in a row, one above the other or side by side. They… harmonize perfectly and always form a cohesive whole. This is what makes the series so compelling. The ability to rotate and rearrange each painting reminds me how important it is in life to turn back when you've taken the wrong path – hence "just turn around."
From file folder to canvas art / Where opposites meet
Precisely because my professional path was rather “dry,” I always sought balance in creative work. After several years of experience in silk and watercolor painting, I developed a desire to express my freedom more fully. This is how I discovered my current great passion in acrylic painting and mixed media. I learned the craft from internationally renowned artists. I continued to educate myself in my own studio. My images suggest the traces of the long process it often takes to find inner peace. They depict a broad spectrum of life—moments of joy, courage, and lightheartedness, but sometimes also moments of frustration, vulnerability, and chaos. I don't want to provoke with my art, but rather build a bridge - from a stressful everyday life to a world in which our soul can find peace.
