About this artwork
The encounter of two black holes raises the question of what would happen if two gravitational singularities were to meet. In the universe, such events are among the most powerful: the merger of two black holes warps spacetime and generates gravitational waves that travel through the cosmos. The composition translates this tension through a constellation of concentric circles whose contours evoke the attraction, vibration, and propagation of an invisible… energy. The forms seem to converse, draw closer, or resonate, as if space itself were in motion. Beyond cosmology, the work offers a symbolic interpretation. Certain human encounters also act as points of no return: they alter our trajectories and redraw the balance of our inner universe.
Victor Abel, a Canadian artist living in Réunion Island, explores the relationship between material, gesture, and light. His work, rooted in research on colors, shapes, and contrasts, is characterized in particular by the use of metal supports and gold leaf gilding. Through his works, he questions the viewer's perception, playing on the effects of depth and movement.
Trained in both traditional techniques and contemporary approaches, he makes his own paints from natural pigments and experiments with processes to bring to life compositions where abstraction dialogues with symbols.
Alongside his creative work, he designs site-specific performances and installations, placing his art in atypical spaces. He also invests in the transmission of knowledge by offering training courses and workshops aimed at different audiences, from young creators to established artists.
