About this artwork
"When you're almost air" is one of the most abstract and subtle in the series "Faces that Disappear". There are no clearly legible features here — only hints, vague silhouettes, as if left on the surface of memory by time, light and wind. Soft strokes of ochre-yellow, sandy, pale blue and grayish tones form a shaky silhouette - perhaps a face, perhaps a figure, or maybe just a feeling, a forgotten emotion.
The painting seems to convey the moment… of complete dissolution. It's like the last stage of disappearance — when only an aftertaste remains of the image, when the presence is felt more in the air than in the form. The light, almost transparent palette and soft, multi-layered texture create the effect of breathing and movement, as if the canvas itself whispers about who was once here.
Vita Daneva, an artist from Moldova, works diversely across painting, textiles, digital, and conceptual visual arts. She creates art using form, colours, and unexpected materials, transforming fragments of impressions into harmonized realities. Her intimate works echo her deep philosophical observations, perfused with messages about time, ecology, and human interconnectedness.
