About this artwork
'King Worm' is inspired by symmetrical patterns found in nature on the wings of butterflies, in flowers and insects. The figure appears distorted, fragmented yet deeply human, stuck between symbolic intensity and abstraction.
Balancing organic harmony and with emotional dissonance, this painting invites to confront the shifting nature of human identity. The portrait becomes a space where beauty, distortion and vulnerability coexist.
This painting… reflects the notion that each individual has a fragile structure, an architecture of the self. This is an hommage to transformation and mutation as an integral part of everyone's journey.
Vincent Corrèze is an artist born in 1999 in Eastern France, where he is still based today. His style combines expressionism with symbolism through portraits of a humanity which is both raw and colorful. Through this iconography, he explores the themes of identity, individuality, and reality.
Vincent Corrèze plays with the unseen.
He balances layers of pastel and acrylic to shape raw textures and colorful compositions. Every detail is meant to fragment a reality of his own: totemic faces, extravagant features, archaic lines and excessive colors.
His subjects are depicted distorted and unreadable, their faces dissolving in their own emotional conditions. Colors are the giveaway. They reveal a dark and decadent humanity, rooted in a sharp tension between presence and disappearance. The artist communicates this liminal state primarily through an unrefined and raw quality. Those intense textures allow the aesthetic aspect to turn into a language in itself,
